A daily phone call for your mum or dad
Hattie rings them every day on their normal phone, landline or mobile, for a five-minute chat. Afterwards you get a short note about how they are.
UK only. First month free.
How it works
Hattie is a friendly automated caller, and she tells your parent she's a computer. If something seems wrong, the people in your family who've chosen to get alerts are told.
Your parent can ring Hattie back on the same number whenever they like. Brothers and sisters join your family in the app with an invite, at no extra cost.
-
First · You set it up
In the app. Your parent's name, their number, a good time to call and a few things they like talking about.
-
Consent call · They say yes
Talk to your parent first, then book a consent call. Hattie explains what the calls are and asks whether they're happy to go ahead. Nothing starts unless they say yes themselves.
-
Every day · Hattie rings
At the same time every day. They chat about how they slept, what they've got on, the garden, the cricket, whatever they like.
-
After each call · A short note
A summary in the app. You can leave notes for Hattie to bring up, like "Sarah's driving you to the hospital on Thursday."
-
Something came up · Alerts
If they don't answer the call or two retries, or they mention something worrying like a fall, the people in your family who get alerts are told.
What you see, and what you don't
You see a summary of each call, the topics, and which of your notes came up. You don't see a transcript, and daily calls aren't recorded. If Hattie raises a concern, you see the sentence that caused it so you can judge it yourself.
Your parent is in charge. They can tell Hattie to take a break or stop for good on any call, and she stops straight away. The family can't restart calls after that. It would take a new consent call that your parent agrees to.
Tuesday 29 September
Mum mentioned pain or feeling unwell.
In her words
“I came over a bit dizzy getting up this morning, had to sit on the bed a minute”
Sarah has spoken to her.
Fine Slept badly
Slept badly (wind again) but napped after. Toast for breakfast. A bit nervous about Thursday's hip appointment, and glad you're driving. The Albertine has a new bud and she's chuffed.
Talked about
- hip appointment
- roses
- sleep
What it isn't
Hattie Calls is not an emergency service. Nobody watches the alerts. If no one in your family acts on an alert, nothing else happens. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services.
- It isn't a medical service. Hattie doesn't diagnose anything or give medical advice.
- It isn't a personal alarm or telecare. It can't tell if someone has fallen when they don't mention it.
- It doesn't replace calls and visits from you.
- A missed call is often nothing. Digital landlines don't work in a power cut or when the broadband is down, and people go out.
Who it's for
- Families in the UK. Calls go to UK phone numbers.
- You need to be 18 or over, with an iPhone.
- Your parent has to understand the calls and agree to them on the consent call. We can't set it up for someone who can't agree for themselves.
