Common questions
How do I cancel my subscription?
On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Hattie Calls, and tap Cancel. You can also get there in the app under More, then Manage subscription.
Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date, or the free month's end, to avoid the next charge. Calls carry on until the end of the period you've paid for, then for three more days, then pause. Hattie tells your parent on the last call.
Deleting the app doesn't cancel the subscription. Only the person who paid can cancel it, because it's tied to their Apple ID.
How do I get a refund?
Apple handles payments, so refunds go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Sign in with the Apple ID you paid with and choose the Hattie Calls subscription.
How does my parent stop the calls?
They just tell Hattie, on any call. "Stop ringing me" or "I'd like a break" is enough. Hattie asks once whether they want a break or to stop for good, and it happens straight away. They can also ring Hattie's number and say the same thing.
If your parent stops the calls, the family can't restart them. It would take a new consent call that your parent agrees to. The family is told that the calls have stopped. Stopping the calls doesn't cancel the subscription.
Can the family pause the calls?
Yes. In the app, go to Schedule to pause calls or set dates when your parent is away.
How do I delete our data?
The family's owner can do it in the app under More, then Privacy & data, then Delete this family. Calls stop straight away. You have seven days to change your mind, then summaries, notes, alerts and everything else about the family are deleted.
We keep the consent call record for six years, because we may need to show your parent agreed to the calls, and a log of account actions that contains nothing from the calls.
Your parent can ask Hattie on a call to delete what she knows about them, or email us. Anyone can email hello@hattiecalls.co.uk to ask for a copy of their data or for it to be deleted. See our privacy policy.
Can I read the full conversation?
No. You see a summary, the topics and, for any concern, the sentence that caused it. Daily calls aren't recorded and transcripts are deleted after 30 days. This keeps the calls private enough that your parent can speak freely.
What happens if my parent doesn't answer?
Hattie leaves a short message with no personal details and tries again 15 minutes later, then again 30 minutes after that. If there's still no answer an hour after the first call, family members who get alerts are told. A missed call is often nothing. They may be out, or the phone line may be down.
My parent has a call blocker. Will Hattie get through?
Add Hattie's number to the blocker's allowed list before the consent call. If you're not sure which number to add, email us.
Is it available outside the UK?
Not yet. Calls only go to UK phone numbers.
